Dr. Shogan’s Social Media Report: November 20-December 1, 2023

On November 20, 2023, Archivist of the United States Dr. Colleen Shogan shared that she met with news anchor Bret Baier during her visit to the George Bush Presidential Library. “I can’t wait to read his new graphic novel for kids that emphasizes fun stories from American history!” she said.

On November 21, Dr. Shogan announced that the National Archives now displays an enlarged facsimile of the Stone print engraving of the Declaration of Independence, right outside the Rotunda. This ensures that everyone can read the words of the Declaration when visiting.

On November 28, 2023, Dr. Shogan enjoyed a visit with Lola from the Animal Welfare Institute who was visiting as part of a Combined Federal Campaign event. “We had a great charity fair at National Archives at College Park, MD (Archives II) for animal-related organizations,” she said.

On November 30, 2023, Dr. Shogan welcomed Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) (center, black jacket and glasses) and his family, friends, and staff to the National Archives. During the visit, Dr. Shogan presented Senator Cramer’s family members with books about the Declaration of Independence.

On December 1, 2023, Dr. Shogan met with the George Mason University Special Collections Research Center team. “I started my career as a professor at George Mason University and remain a strong supporter of the university,” she said. “Go Patriots!”

Earlier this week, Dr. Shogan also wrote heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter and Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
