Dr. Shogan’s Weekly Summary: October 23–27, 2023

On October 20, 2023, Archivist of the United States Dr. Colleen Shogan joined the Capitol Chapter of the DC Daughters of the American Revolution for their 10th anniversary celebration. Dr. Shogan was honored to receive the Women in American History Award.



On October 23, 2023, Dr. Shogan welcomed Supreme Court Associate Justice Amy Coney Barrett and her clerks to the ⁦National Archives in Washington, DC (Archives I).



Later that day, Dr. Shogan made remarks at the DC Archives Fair in the McGowan Theater at National Archives in Washington, DC (Archives I).

After making remarks and touring the DC Archvies Fair, Dr. Shogan posed for a picture with Keith Owens (left), who is a preservation specialist at the National Personnel Records Center at St. Louis, MO, and the president of the National Archives Assembly; and John Legloahec (right), an archives specialist in the National Archives Electronic Reference Branch.



On October 25, 2023, Dr. Shogan visited the⁩ National Archives at Seattle. She held a meeting with staff, toured the facility, and explored the records. “We are committed to a continued presence in the greater Seattle area and expanding access to the region’s records for all,” Dr. Shogan said.



On October 26, 2023, Dr. Shogan met with Microsoft President Brad Smith at the Seattle Public Library, where they talked about the intersection of technology, history, and archives.
