Dr. Shogan’s Social Media Report: October 16-20, 2023

On October 16, 2023, Archivist of the United States Dr. Colleen Shogan met with U.S. House of Representatives Congressman Michael Guest (R-MS) in the Washington Room at the National Archives in Washington, DC ( Archives I ). Congressman Guest and his staff were taking a tour.



On October 18, Dr. Shogan met with Georgetown professor Adam Rothman and his graduate school class.



On October 19, 2023, Dr. Shogan met with U.S. House of Representatives Congressman Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) and his staff and friends. The group was able to see a selection of records from our holdings, including President Abraham Lincoln’s nomination of Ulysses S. Grant to serve as the Union Army general and President Ronald Reagan’s nomination of Sandra Day O’Connor to the Supreme Court.



On October 20, Dr. Shogan shared a photograph of Betty Ford leaving the hospital in 1974 after her breast cancer surgery, thanking the nurses and doctors during her own battle with breast cancer.



On October 20, Dr. Shogan joined the Capitol Chapter of the DC Daughters of the American Revolution for their 10th anniversary celebration. She was honored to receive the Women in American History Award.
