On August 12, 2024, Dr. Shogan posted an example of an old trail map (1936 Box Canyon Loop) as part of an effort to highlight our Forest Service records through history. You can check them out for yourself here. What will you discover today?

On August 13, 2024, just in time for back-to-school activities, Dr. Shogan posted a throwback to the yellow school bus we all love and remember. She invited educators to check out our educator resources website, containing many free resources and primary documents: https://archives.gov/education.

On August 14, 2024, Dr. Shogan asked her followers: “Fact or fiction? On August 15, Dr. Shogan invited her followers to join online or in person on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 6 p.m. ET as author Lindsay M. Chervinsky and Dr. Shogan discuss the new book Making the Presidency, the unique challenges faced by President Adams and how he shaped the office for his successors.

Also on August 15, 2024, Archivist of the United States Dr. Colleen Shogan announced the appointment of 20 individuals to the National Archives and Records Administration’s 2024–2026 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Advisory Committee. The individuals named will serve a two-year term and will begin meeting in September 2024. You can read the full press release on the National Archives website.
