On May 6, 2024, Archivist of the United States Dr. Colleen Shogan hosted recent Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient Representative James Clyburn (D-SC) at the National Archives, along with the National Archives Foundation’s former chair Governor Jim Blanchard and current chair Rodney Slater.

On May 6 and May 7, Dr. Shogan posted about #YomHaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. Explore millions of records held by the National Archives that were created or received by the U.S. Government during and after World War II. May is also Jewish American Heritage Month.

On May 7, in honor of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Dr. Shogan posted about Patsy Mink, the first woman of color and the first Asian American elected to Congress.
