During that same visit, Dr. Shogan also met with Chief Executive of the National Archives [of the United Kingdom] and Keeper of Public Records and Historical Manuscripts Commissioner Saul Nassé.
Continuing her trip, on November 22, 2024, Dr. Shogan took part in a panel discussion, “The Importance of National Archives in the 21st Century,” with Director of the National Archives of Ireland Orlaith McBride and Trinity College Dublin Professor Patrick Geoghegan at the College Historical Society, where they discussed the challenges and future of state archives.
Dr. Shogan also met with Librarian and College Archivist at Trinity College Dublin Helen Shelton in the Long Room at the Library of Trinity College Dublin. More than 200,000 books in the Long Room library chamber have been removed for conservation.
Later that day, Dr. Shogan spoke with student reporter Eoin Connolly from The University Times, Trinity College Dublin’s newspaper.
